On 10/10/2024, Black Women in Aviation (BWIA) hosted a powerful and engaging virtual event titled “Navigating the Skies and Our Minds: Prioritizing Mental Health in Aviation.” This event brought together industry professionals, mental health advocates, and BWIA members for an inspiring conversation on the importance of mental health in aviation. The session highlighted actionable strategies to address the unique challenges faced by aviation professionals.

The event opened with BWIA’s Founder and President, Samantha T. Mitchell, who introduced the theme and emphasized the critical need for mental health awareness in the aviation industry. She acknowledged the high-stress environments, irregular schedules, and emotional demands faced by professionals, particularly women and minorities, and welcomed the esteemed panel of speakers.
Keynote Address
